| | | Assessment and Treatment of Apraxia: Overcoming the Effects on Speech and Swallowing | To be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Raleigh Triangle Town Center in Raleigh, NC.
This one day seminar, led by Charlene Free, MA, CCC-SLP, will help learners identify the different types of apraxia, discuss how to retrain muscles needed for speech and safe swallowing, outline how to educate caregivers on effective ways to communicate with an apraxic individual, and more.

| | | AUTISM SOCIETY OF NC: Enhancing Social Understanding | The purpose of this training is to demonstrate how to teach social understanding & perspective taking to individuals on the autism spectrum. The goal is to address the underlying meaning of the social concept and help the individual understand it. We will watch and discuss video clip examples and practice interactive exercises to promote creative thinking and facilitate fun! Teachers, professionals, parents and caregivers of high functioning individuals on the autism spectrum can all benefit from this training.

There will be food, live music, and a vendor expo following the race so stick around with your family and friends and fellowship with the community. We will have a silent auction and games with prizes, including a sudoku challenge, scrabble table and many many more.

| | | Triangle Down Syndrome Network: Dine Out for Down Syndrome at Ruby Tuesday | Ruby Tuesday has invited TDSN to particpate in their GiveBack program in 2012 by hosting monthly Dine Out for Down Syndrome nights at their restaurants to benefit TDSN.
20% of your bill will be credited to the fundraiser if you present the flyer with the event code on it. These events will be held on the last Tuesday of each month except for December when it will be held on the 18th.
